Over 40 million people in the United States lived in poverty in 2016. Of that number, 13 million were children. These children live in food insecure homes and likely do not have regular access to healthy food.
How are we Changing Hunger?
Heroes are real. WakWay has had the opportunity to partner with some of the most amazing celebrities and athletes to bring real-life solutions to food insecurity to bring real life solutions to the problem of food insecurity, and to make a difference in the lives of those who need us most.
Our partners dream with us. We work hard to get healthy foods into under-served communities. Because it’s not just about how much people eat, but what they eat. Hunger is a logistic problem. Our partners are working together to rescue healthy foods and put them into communities.
It should be easy for communities to access good nutrition. What makes WakWay Foundation different is our holistic approach to solving the challenges of hunger. Our solutions include repurposed food integration, and giving people nutrition-dense options.
In the United States alone, we throw out a whopping $165 billion worth of food each year – enough to feed two billion people. By partnering with great organizations like Major League Baseball, G Texas Food and Beverage, Albertsons Safeway, Giumarra Nature's Partner, and others, we are able to bring healthy food to the places where communities gather.
